Group of short-term care of children |
|
|
The group of short-term residential children can consist of up to fifteen individuals. These are abandoned children between the ages of 3 and 16. Some of them come to us straight from the street, while others come through intervention from city social services. By regulation they are permitted to reside with us for three months.
In this group each child is given various types of help. First of all, we help rehabilitate the child after the hardships experienced and seen on the street or in the family. Our staff members try their best to surround every child with attention and care. Many children in this group are developmentally behindtheir peers because they did not attend school and no one attended to their development. Therefore we give attention to the children’s development, especially their educational instruction.
We also decide the questions connected with a child’s social protection, assistance, and further placement into a family or government orphanage.
We make every effort and pray that our children are sent to families and not to government boarding schools (internats). With this goal, our staff visits churches to tell them how they can take abandoned children into their families.
