Small misfortunes and big misfortunes…every day we see big misfortunes in the lives of small people. What could be more difficult than having your mother and father, who are the whole world to you, say to “No” to you? Who now can help you survive in this giant world? Who is going to care for you and protect you, and give you needed advice?
We thank God for the privilege of taking part in the lives of these children—that through our service, He cares for them and does not leave these abandoned children alone. We do this work because our Lord is the Father of orphans and widows and therefore children cannot be left on the streets. They must have a comfortable home and a family.
Clearly every one of us can do something in the lives of these small abandoned children. We can give the gift of our joy, warmth, care, and sympathy. Every one of us can become important in someone’s life. Children need you!
“Share your food with the hungry and provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, clothe him, and do not turn away from your own flesh and blood. Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.”—Isaiah 58:7-8 (Bible)
